YEAR 4

Wow, this term has flown by! The Year 4’s have been very busy in the classroom. They have enjoyed learning about erosion, weathering and conducting experiments to demonstrate these topics.

Students used sugar cubes and broke them down to demonstrate weathering and used vinegar and chalk to show chemical weathering. They also froze water to show water expansion.

Year 4s have been learning about life cycles, plants and they have been working on a project at home about a plant or flower. They needed to make a 3D model of their plant and make a Big Book of information about this.

In English, the class has been writing persuasive texts and completing their Spelling Mastery and Grammar pages.

We have participated in two competitions this Term – the Big Flush door hanger competition- which Fatema Al Shawaf won from the Year 3/ 4 section and also the Possum Magic competition- which Ayesha Masuri won. Congratulations to all of the class, especially to our winners!

In Maths, the Year 4s have been working very hard on fractions, shapes and chance and data. They have made models of nets.

The year 4s have enjoyed special days such as Daffodil Day, Book Week and Father’s Day. The class performed a scene from Matilda- the cake eating scene, for Book Week. Hamza A. was a scary Miss Trunchbull and Hamza S. did a great job as Bruce Bogtrotter. Well done to all of the other characters in our play.

The Year 4s were also very lucky to have attended Bendigo’s Discovery Science and Technology Centre for the Year 3/ 4 excursion and some children stayed for the 3 /4 camp. A lot of fun was had by all!!

Finally, I congratulate the Year 4 class on a fantastic term and wish them a happy and safe holiday.
